What Are Bed Bugs?

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are little insects that are usually reddish-brown in color, that survive off of animal and human blood. They move very quickly on walls, floors, and ceiling, but do not fly. Bed bugs can be common in hotel rooms and apartments. They are spread by luggage, clothes, personal items transferred from one place to another. Bed bugs can hide in couches, mattresses, box springs, and bed frames. They are attracted to heat, which is why they usually come on while one sleeps and will feed on their blood anywhere from three to 10 minutes. Once bitten you may develop a rash or have an allergic reaction. You want to perform proper hygiene and contact a doctor who may prescribe you something to get rid of the rash, if you don’t it may go away on its own in a longer period of time.

How To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs

To get rid of bed bugs you want to perform a deep cleaning washing and drying everything in hot water and high heat. Exterminators are trained in knowing where to seek out the hidden insects and how to eliminate them. Exterminators will use a variety of ways to get rid of these bugs like heating treatments, spraying of pesticide dust and sprays, cracks and crevice spot treatments, and mattress encasements. You may need to leave your home for a few hours if not a day while the extermination is happening. A licensed exterminator will have to make a professional opinion on what treatment would be best for each situation.
